Join us

Join the Hydroclimate2X Lab at the University of Manitoba to advance research on hydroclimate risks and impacts. We welcome applicants at all levels from diverse backgrounds, including civil engineering, climate science, agronomy, geography, statistics, or related fields. We value a range of perspectives and expertise. If you are driven by curiosity and motivated to make impactful discoveries, we encourage you to apply.

In our lab, students will be trained to collect, organize, and analyze geospatial and socioeconomic data; conduct empirical and numerical modeling; and write professional research documents. In addition to technical skills, I will offer tailored guidance on project management, communication, leadership, professional writing, and networking to ensure that each trainee achieves their career development goals and makes a significant contribution to the team. Several project options are available; to understand the work we do, please see examples of Papers.

  • If you are interested in joining our research lab and align with our research areas, please fill out the Graduate Research Interest Form to express your interest in joining our lab.

Undergraduate Students

UM students interested in conducting summer research through the UM Undergraduate Research Awards (URA) or NSERC USRA should send an email to Donghoon.Lee@umanitoba.ca.

  • URA (Currently Open): The URA application is open from mid-January to mid-February for research taking place from May to August. The award provides $7,000 and is recognized as a UM Co-Curricular Record activity.
  • NSERC USRA (Currently Closed): The NSERC USRA provides $6,000, with the host institution required to supplement the award. The duration is 14 to 16 weeks, and the research must be full-time.

Important Information

  • GRA applications submitted via email will not be considered.
  • We review applications on a rolling basis and, due to the high volume of submissions, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in an online interview process.

If you find any issues with the Research Interest Form, please contact Donghoon.Lee@umanitoba.ca.
